Subscriber badge design: Twitch and Kick sizes, tier systems (2026)

What is a sub badge, what size is it made in and how many tiers should you have? Twitch 18-36-72 px, Kick badge rules and the 8-tier TheBesstTV set that changes colour with subscription length.

Eight-tier subscriber badge set for TheBesstTV

A subscriber badge is the small mark next to a username in chat. Tiny, but seen constantly: a channel’s most loyal viewers show it with every message. A good badge set does two things: it carries the channel’s identity into chat and it turns staying subscribed into a visible reward.

Sizes

Platform Sizes Format
Twitch 18×18 · 36×36 · 72×72 px transparent PNG, each < 25 KB
Kick one square image transparent PNG

Badges are always drawn large (around 500×500) and scaled down. The real test is 18 pixels: at that size only silhouette and colour survive.

Tiers: colour carries, numbers support

For TheBesstTV we built an eight-tier set. Every badge shares the same crown and hexagon frame; colour and glow change:

  1. 1 month — silver
  2. 2 months — green
  3. 3 months — blue
  4. 6 months — gold
  5. 9 months — red
  6. 1, 2 and 3 years — blue-pink holographic, in the channel’s neon-city palette

The number sits inside the badge, but colour does the real work; at 18 pixels a “gold badge” viewer stands out at a glance. Turning the yearly tiers into the channel’s own neon colours is deliberate: the oldest viewers wear the channel’s colours.

Badges should speak the same language as the set

At TheBesstTV the badges were designed together with 18 emotes, the overlay and panels: the same blue-pink neon, the same frame corners. A badge that is beautiful on its own but disconnected from the channel looks foreign in chat.

Checklist

  1. Can the tiers be told apart at 18 pixels?
  2. Any white halo (stray pixels) left on the transparent edge?
  3. Does it read in both dark and light chat themes?
  4. Does each tier look “more valuable” than the last?

Frequently asked

1.What size are Twitch subscriber badges?

Twitch asks for three sizes: 18×18, 36×36 and 72×72 pixels, transparent PNG, each under 25 KB. The design is drawn large and then checked at every size; detail disappears at 18 pixels, so shape and colour must read on their own.

2.How many badge tiers should I have?

The common ladder is 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 months and 1, 2, 3 years — eight in total. New channels can start with 3–4 tiers and add later; what matters is that each tier clearly looks 'more valuable' than the one before.

3.Should badges show a number?

A number looks great large but cannot be read at 18 pixels. So colour and frame should carry the tier: silver, green, blue, gold, red, then holographic. The number becomes a second hint.

4.Do you design subscriber badges?

Yes — on their own or as part of a stream set with emotes and panels. Send your channel link on WhatsApp.
